YARD CREW HANDBRAKE INFO

20 APR | BY BRENTON HARTLE

For your info to all yard crew please share I don’t wanna see anyone get in trouble for something so stupid……. As information if a train departs Clovis with a handbrake applied i.e. warm bearing desk / hot box detector stop and its found that a brake was applied mid train we will hold the switch crew accountable who built the train. We continue to drag trains out to the 3900s & 700s with handbrakes applied mid train or scattered throughout the train. Pretty simple if a switch crew is doubling a train out and they have a handbrake squealing they need to take it off. It appears we are not doing this and relying the on the carmen to catch these during the inspection. The main driver for this is we continue to depart trains out of Clovis with handbrakes requiring crew members to walk back and release them. This is strictly a safety play to ensure we all go home the way we came to work. Call with any questions. Kyle
